We found that patients are open to using a publicly available shared decision-making app and sharing it with their doctors, especially if they know it’s safe and effective. Participants were especially excited about features that helped them get new, tailored medical information for them, learn about other patients like them, track side effects, and share information about their health easily with their doctors and loved ones.

We asked patients living with chronic conditions about their interest in a free app to empower them in making decisions with their doctors. We found that patients are open to using a publicly available shared decision-making app and sharing it with their clinicians, especially if they know it’s doctor-approved and that their information will be protected.

Patients responded positively to Fora Health as a tool to make decisions with their doctors. Overall, patients said they wanted to learn about the experiences of patients like them, and were excited about getting tailored answers to their questions and receiving personalized health education and treatment option information.

Many patients expressed interest in Fora Health’s side effect tracker, receiving summaries of their health they could share with their doctors and loved ones, and learning new, up-to-date information about their condition and care.
