In session 15, we explored the user experience of engaging with a build of Fora Health for Bipolar Disorder over a two-week period.

This research evaluated the user experience of engaging with a build of Fora Health for Bipolar Disorder over a two-week period. Participants were experts in Bipolar Disorder, and were asked to use the Fora Health app as a Bipolar patient would in daily life, while a researcher played the role of the patient’s clinician. Insights from this research were used to reiterate the build before using it in a research trial exploring the feasibility of using Fora Health to support Bipolar Disorder patients.

First, the research revealed some bugs in the build that were causing the app to crash or making it challenging for participants to engage with some of the healthcare tracking features. These bugs were investigated and resolved to support a stable and smoother experience when tracking symptoms and early warning signs.

Second, the research highlighted some pain points in navigating to the app and understanding its offering and how to use it. The app copy was reviewed and orientation guides were created to provider users with clearer, action-orientated guidance on using the app. This offered more support during the initial onboarding process and when introducing specific features. Insights also shaped improvements to the Early warning planning and Treatment preference features to make these more intuitive and aligned with the needs of Bipolar patients.
